Slovakia, November 26, 2007 - Training Center for Civil Protection, Nitra. A suspect package, abandoned in the vicinity of a nuclear power plant, is discovered. On site, a police patrol suspects a terrorist attack. Emergency procedures are initiated immediately with AlarmTILT Emergency: Alert notifications are sent simultaneously via SMS, e-mail and voice messages to the emergency services, the police headquarters in Nitra and the Civil Protection in Slovakia, with immediate intervention on the ground. Emergency notifications are also sent to a team of experts who are mobilised to execute radioactivity measurements. This simulation was performed in collaboration with the Civil Protection in Slovakia, as part of the European project u-2010 ( www.u2010.eu ), which aims to secure communication and coordination between departments and first aid teams despite disruptions in the telecommunication networks. Recent disasters in Europe and around the world have shown that the communication is of the utmost importance in a crisis situation. The demo "Radiation 2007" with AlarmTILT Emergency, combined with new technologies (equipment and communications networks, especially based on IPv6), has been a great success. The Civil Protection in Slovakia has decided to reiterate in June 2008 this simulation exercise in Nitra, in the city centre and several hundred extras. AlarmTILT Emergency will again be used during this demonstration at a large scale. |
