On 4th July 2008, the municipality of Steinsel (Luxembourg) presented its innovative crisis communication system, which allows its residents to access real time information in case of catastrophes, technical outages or incidents. The alert management solution AlarmTILT developed by M-PLIFY, specialising in crisis management software, uses email, SMS text messaging and text-to-speech voice alerts to deliver vital information and notifications to the citizens, wherever they are.
Simple and reliable access to information
The simplicity of AlarmTILT is what convinced the municipality of Steinsel to implement the solution. The mayor Jean-Pierre Klein can provide a solution that will benefit all: "Every citizen can subscribe to this service and receive important information directly affecting him or her, in case of a technical incident or a natural threat. Depending on the nature of the problem or emergency, we can rapidly notify the residents directly affected by email, SMS or voice message (text-to-speech)." Another reason for him to put his trust in M-PLIFY is the expertise of the company in the area of crisis communication. Jean-Pierre Klein: "It was important for us to cooperate with specialists offering their experience and technical know-how in such a sensitive domain."
React better and faster in case of accidents and crisis situations
M-PLIFY CEO, Hubert Schumacher, points out as well the mix of simplicity and expertise: "Thanks to our technology, municipal authorities now can communicate more efficiently with their population. "More transparency towards the citizen is guaranteed, as in case of an incident the affected person will be notified: "The aim is to save precious minutes, which can be important in a crisis situation." Jean-Pierre Klein and Hubert Schumacher point out, that the project lead by Steinsel is a real pilot project:"Our municipality is the first in the country to provide such a concept", says the mayor: "of course, that makes us very proud." And Hubert Schumacher promises, this is only the beginning: "Other municipalities will implement our innovative, useful and efficient concept before the year end. AlarmTILT is a flexible system that can be adapted and extended according to the needs of the municipalities. Already today environmental sensors and other technical systems can be connected to AlarmTILT."
